The omission of specific dutiesdoes not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position.)Follow the school nurse's instructions and procedures to assist in the daily operation of the clinic.Welcome patients to the clinic with a positive attitude noting the reason for requesting services; takes and records temperature, as appropriate to clinic operations.Answers telephone inquiries from parents and others; screens calls to determine nature and urgency of inquiry, refers calls as appropriate.Enters patient data into files and automated databases.Assist the school nurse with the maintenance of records and reports (e.g., emergency forms and daily/monthly records).Assist with screening programs.Maintains inventories of supplies and makes copies, as required, to support day-to-day clinical operations.Provides day-to-day staff support for the clinic.Assists in maintaining the cleanliness and serviceability of clinic facilities and equipment.Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Skills in the use of personal computers. Knowledge of patient registration procedures anddocumentation. Ability to interact and communicate with people over the telephone, often in stressfulsituations. Receptionist skills. Ability to follow universal precautions for communicable diseases andblood-borne pathogens. Observe confidentiality of students and student records at all times. Ability toestablish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers, parents, students andadministrators.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or GED; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties andresponsibilities specified. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Significant standing, walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching,handling, pushing and pulling.
