Resource Pool staff work in multiple areas of the hospital including Mother Baby, Pediatrics, Emergency Department, Psych, Intensive Care Units, Medical Surgical and Progressive Care Units. The Patient Observation Assistant provides observation of assigned patients and performs basic clinical services relating to the care, cleanliness, safety and comfort for patients of all ages. Maintains visual contact with assigned patient and quickly respond to patient care needs. Provides care for patients at risk of suicide as well as those who are at a safety risk and do not meet the criteria for Remote Telemonitoring. Remain within close proximity of the patient at all times in order to ensure patient does not injure themselves.Suicide Cart Compliance ie. inventory sheet, ensuring room is safe, following suicide precautions, Get Well Network (internet access off), visiation policy.Utilize Descalation techniques and/or diversional activities for suicidal, disoriented, combative, and/or potential elopement patients.Provides basic nursing care. Assist assigned patients with activities of daily living and documents in the EMR appropriately. (Body Mechanics, Bathing, Feeding, Aspiration Precautions, Inputs and Outputs, Toileting, Peri-Care, Oral Care, Ambulation, Bed-Making, Range of Motion, Restraints, PPE, Vital Signs, Blood Sugar Checks)Code Blue Review (Recognize pulseless patients, calling a code blue, use of defibrilators.Documents in Epic observations and patients' activity every 15 minutes (suicide) and 1 hours (safety). Provide appropriate documentation on patient record.Assists and aid with patient quality outcomes (VTE, fall prevention, etc)Demonstrates effective communication skills. Appropriately report patient observations and changes in patient status to licensed staff. Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
