Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Assistant Operations Manager to support day-to-day operations and prepare for future operational leadership within our growing organization.
This role serves as a succession-planning opportunity. The selected candidate will work directly alongside our current Operations Manager, gaining hands-on experience in inventory management, billing, process improvement, systems implementation, and team development.
The ideal candidate is analytical, organized, and motivated to improve processes while working collaboratively across departments.
This is a full-time, on-site position at the posting location. Occasional travel to other CED locations will be required during onboarding and training.

This position is designed to develop into a key operational leadership role within the location. During the transition period, the Assistant Operations Manager will receive direct training from the current Operations Manager through a structured transition plan. As proficiency is demonstrated, the individual will assume increasing responsibility and assume the role of Operations Manager at the conclusion of the transition period.

Minimum Qualifications:
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
Ability to learn and navigate multiple software platforms and business systems
Valid driver's license
Ability to travel occasionally

Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in operations management, inventory management, logistics, supply chain, or related fields

Experience with ERP, warehouse management, or inventory management systems
Background in wholesale distribution, industrial operations, logistics, or related industries
Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management, Logistics, or related field

Essential Job Functions:
Operational Leadership
Assist in overseeing the day-to-day operational functions of the Roanoke profit center.
Work closely with sales, warehouse, purchasing, delivery, and accounting teams to ensure efficient execution of business processes.
Identify operational challenges and implement practical solutions.
Assist with the development and documentation of standard operating procedures.
Support special projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
Inventory Management & Control
Maintain and improve inventory accuracy across all warehouse and storage locations.
Investigate inventory discrepancies and identify root causes.
Coordinate cycle count programs and inventory reconciliation activities.
Assist in managing inventory adjustments and reporting.
Support purchasing and warehouse teams in maintaining inventory integrity.
Lead preparation and execution of annual physical inventory counts.
Customer Billing & Administrative Operations
Review customer billing processes to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies.
Assist with operational reporting and data analysis.
Maintain organized records and documentation.
Ensure operational processes are executed in compliance with company policies.
Systems & Process Improvement
Participate in the implementation of new software platforms, operational systems, and business processes.
Assist with training employees on new systems and workflows.
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and customer service.
Develop and maintain process documentation and training materials.
Team Development & Training
Coordinate onboarding and training activities for new employees.
Assist with scheduling and tracking employee training progress.
Provide guidance and support to employees regarding operational processes and systems.
Foster productive working relationships across all departments.
Help create a culture of accountability, communication, and continuous improvement.
Leadership Development
Train alongside the current Operations Manager during the transition period.
Assume increasing responsibility for operational functions.
Prepare to transition into expanded operational leadership responsibilities.

Compensation Range:
The compensation range for this position is $65000 to $75000 annually.
