Position Title: Appraisal Desk Assistant

Reports to: Appraisal Desk Manager

Department: Appraisal Desk

Location: Corporate Office - Roanoke, VA / Remote

Position Type: Full-Time; 40 hours per week

Supervises: None

FLSA Classification / Type: Non-Exempt / Administrative

Pay Range: $19.50 - $20.50 per hour

POSITION SUMMARY

The Appraisal Desk Assistant is responsible for assisting in the daily functions of the Appraisal Desk to accomplish the required objectives set out by department management. The primary objective of the Appraisal Desk Assistant will include, but is not limited to, scheduling and collecting resulting appraisal documents, coordinating various activities and information sharing among branches and appraisers as well as recordkeeping.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Initiate and maintain consistent communication with appraisers and branches, providing various forms of information including status and tracking data
  2. Schedule appraisals through the department's system of record
  3. Follow up on order status with appraisers and branches
  4. Monitor data for trends or issues which may affect on-time delivery, quality, or customer satisfaction, escalating to management, as necessary
  5. Maintain current records for appraisers' licenses and applicable insurance
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSURE, AND COMPETENCIES
  1. Minimum of two (2) years administrative and/or customer service experience required; experience in the mortgage industry preferred
  1. High school diploma, or equivalent education required
  2. Basic underwriting, processor, and closing knowledge and terminology preferred
  3. Highly motivated, ambitious, and driven to succeed
  4. Must be trustworthy, honest, and able to continuously display a high level of integrity
  5. Able to work effectively in a team environment
  6. Able to demonstrate excellent detail orientation, critical thinking, and analytical skills
  7. Able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
  8. Able to understand and respond appropriately to basic inquiries
  9. Able to read, write, and communicate using the English language sufficient to perform job functions
  10. Able to use Company equipment in assigned area (including but not limited to telephone, copiers, fax machines, computers, internet, etc.)
  11. Able to access, input, retrieve, and interpret information using applicable computer systems (including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, industry-specific computer software, etc.)
  12. Able to multi-task (e.g., simultaneous usage of several applications, etc.)
  13. Well-versed with keyboard shortcuts and able to identify new ways to complete a task in less time
  14. Rely on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  15. Works well under general supervision
  16. Able to handle deadlines and working within banking guidelines
  17. Compliance with all Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML) laws, and Office of Foreign Asset Controls (OFAC) requirements is required. Employee must complete annual training in these areas


WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in a clerical office setting; climate-controlled surroundings with adequate lighting and little or moderate noise when in the office. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing and photocopying is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand as necessary.

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
