Provides inspection services for compliance with plans and specifications, prepares required contract documentation, and follows prescribed Quality Assurance and Quality Control procedures.What You'll DoObserves, documents, and verifies work in progress by the construction contractor to ensure compliance with contract documents and plans. Confirms procedures are followed and material used conforms to specifications.Utilizes engineering inspection practices to perform rudimentary mathematical calculations and measurements of completed work to date.Maintains Inspector's daily report of assigned work activities, contactor labor and equipment, quantity of material received and verified.Assists in on-site material testing and produces as-constructed sketches as required.Performs other duties as assigned.What You'll NeedHigh School Diploma/GED or equivalent and 1 year of construction experience.All required jurisdictional certificates and state requirements.What You'll BringPrepare daily work reports, including quantities for payment, contractor personnel and equipment utilized.Perform quality assurance testing and sampling in accordance with specifications.Keep superiors advised of problem areas.Ensure that work conforms to plans and specifications.Provide effective communication regarding issues, objectives, initiatives in performance & compliance to Plans and Specifications.What We Prefer3 year construction related experienceDriver's LicenseProficient use of Microsoft Word and ExcelExperience working on VDOT projects; prior experience in the Hampton Roads District preferredWorking knowledge of VDOT Road and Bridge Specifications, Road and Bridge Standards, Construction Manual and Inspector ManualAbility to pass background check as required by clientCertificationsACIDEQ Erosion and Sediment Control InspectorDEQ Stormwater InspectorOSHA 10 Hour Safety TrainingNuclear Gauge Safety TrainingVDOT Asphalt Field I and IIVDOT FlaggerVDOT Guardrail (GRIT)VDOT Intermediate Work Zone Traffic ControlVDOT Pavement MarkingVDOT Slurry SurfaceVDOT Soils & AggregatesEqual Opportunity Employer/Disability/VeteranHNTB is an equal opportunity employer.
