A premier data center services provider is seeking a Critical Infrastructure Engineer to act as the primary technical responder and facility expert for their massive Ashburn campus. In this 100% onsite role, you will diagnose high-level facility faults, manage specialized vendors, and ensure 100% uptime for critical customer applications. If you have deep experience acting as the "firefighter" for high-voltage and high-tonnage mechanical systems, we want you on our team. We offer highly competitive compensation packages alongside comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage to keep you and your family healthy.
Start your day by reviewing facility metrics and directing vendor activities for preventative maintenance on essential mechanical and electrical infrastructure (vendor management makes up roughly 60% of daily operational tasks).
Act as the immediate "first responder" to critical facility alerts, diagnosing and resolving issues with large-scale Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), generators, and high-capacity chilling systems to maintain 100% customer uptime.
Develop, thoroughly review, and meticulously execute standard operating procedures (SOPs) and methods of procedure (MOPs) for the facility.
Provide direct technical support for new customer integrations, ensuring the optimal preparation of physical space, power configurations, and network pathways.
Investigate tripped breakers, electrical faults, or cooling anomalies, performing rapid root-cause analysis to restore redundancy and communicate findings to facility leadership.
Generate monthly performance metrics and prepare technical presentations regarding facility health and operations.
7 or more years of hands-on facility operations and engineering experience specifically within the data center industry (general high-rise, commercial property, or hospital maintenance is not applicable for this environment).
Deep, dual expertise in both mechanical and electrical infrastructure, including advanced knowledge of refrigeration cycles and electrical voltage color-code classifications.
Extensive, direct experience working with massive data center equipment, particularly commercial-scale UPS battery systems, heavy chillers, and backup generators.
Strong vendor management experience, with the proven ability to direct third parties through preventative maintenance and emergency repair operations.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to articulate technical issues to leadership and draft precise MOPs/SOPs.
Ability to work 100% onsite in Ashburn, VA on a standard first-shift schedule (Monday through Friday).
