Risk Manager

Virginia Transformer Corp. – Roanoke, Virginia

Position Summary

Virginia Transformer Corp. is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Risk Manager to support enterprise risk management activities across the organization. Reporting directly to the Director of Treasury, this role will be responsible for identifying, assessing, monitoring, and mitigating financial, operational, insurance, compliance, and business continuity risks across multiple manufacturing facilities and corporate functions.

The Risk Manager will partner closely with Treasury, Finance, Legal, Operations, Supply Chain, HR, Safety, and executive leadership teams to strengthen risk governance, improve internal controls, support insurance and claims management, and enhance overall organizational resiliency within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support enterprise risk management (ERM) initiatives across manufacturing, operational, financial, and corporate functions.
  • Identify, evaluate, and monitor operational, financial, regulatory, insurance, and business continuity risks.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of risk mitigation strategies and internal control processes.
  • Partner with plant operations, safety, legal, treasury, and finance teams to assess risk exposure across multiple facilities.

Manage and coordinate corporate insurance programs including:

  • Property
  • General Liability
  • Workers' Compensation
  • Cyber Liability
  • Auto
  • Umbrella/Excess Coverage

Coordinate insurance renewals, broker relationships, claims management, and loss prevention initiatives.

  • Analyze claims trends and support corrective action planning to reduce organizational risk exposure.
  • Support treasury and finance functions with risk analysis related to banking, cash management, foreign exchange exposure, and financial controls.
  • Assist with contract review processes to identify and mitigate financial and operational risk exposure.
  • Participate in internal audits, compliance reviews, and policy development initiatives.
  • Develop risk reporting dashboards, KPIs, and executive-level reporting metrics.
  • Support disaster recovery, emergency response, and business continuity planning initiatives.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with corporate policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to strengthen organizational controls, operational discipline, and process standardization.
  • Support investigations, root cause analysis activities, and corrective action implementation related to risk events or claims.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Risk Management, Accounting, Business, or related field required.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in Risk Management, Treasury, Finance, Insurance, Audit, Compliance, or related field.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing, industrial, or multi-site operations strongly preferred.

  • Compliance & Governance
  • Experience working with insurance brokers, carriers, auditors, and legal teams preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and provide actionable recommendations to leadership.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools preferred.
  • Strong communication and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Manufacturing or heavy industrial experience preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as:
  • ARM
  • CRM
  • CPA
  • CTP
  • CIA

preferred but not required.

  • Experience supporting treasury or banking-related risk functions preferred.
  • Familiarity with large-scale capital equipment or industrial manufacturing environments preferred.
