Responsibilities
- Choose the appropriate mix of products and installation methods to provide the most cost‑effective solution.
- Prepare submittals and schedules; handle the ordering of products and equipment.
- Participate in sales‑to‑operations turnaround meetings to evaluate accuracy of the sales estimate and job layout.
- Design fire alarm systems for buildings, including floorplan drawings, riser diagrams, device wiring details, panel mounting, bills of materials, and sequences of operations.
- Provide general electrical calculations, including battery calculations, voltage drop calculations, conduit fills, power supply sizing, and prepare engineering re‑estimates.
- Follow up with sales and management to ensure job scope, specifications, and schematics meet customer needs and provide start‑up and checkout documentation to the Project Manager.
- Perform quality assurance; peer‑review engineering documents and mentor, train, and direct the design activities of the engineering team.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or state‑recognized GED. Candidates with at least 5 years of fire system design experience qualified.
- 7+ years of experience engineering fire alarm systems.
- Knowledge of engineering fundamentals of fire systems or equivalent field experience.
- Knowledge of fire alarm system components such as panels, strobe booster panels, spot detectors, duct‑mounted smoke detectors, aspirating smoke detectors, monitor modules, relay modules, pull stations, notification devices, Class circuits, state and local fire codes, NFPA 72.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical circuit diagrams.
- NICET III – Fire Alarm Systems certification and willingness to obtain NICET IV.
- 5+ years proficiency in AutoCAD and design; proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.
- Occasional travel for important team gatherings, project kick‑offs, strategic discussions, or training.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor's Degree.

The pay range for this position is $59,048 – $101,225 annually. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
