Located in the heart of the Appalachian region, Virginia Highlands Community College (VHCC) serves the city of Bristol, Washington County, and the western portion of Smyth County from its campus in historic Abingdon, Virginia. VHCC's central location at exit 14 on Interstate 81,in view of Mt. Rogers and Whitetop Mountain, is a short commute from nearby towns and communities, including northeast Tennessee. In its continued service to the region, VHCC is seeking a qualified applicant to serve as its next Vice President of Institutional Advancement. The Vice President of Institutional Advancement is the college's senior level administrator for external relations, including marketing, communications, and fundraising. The Vice President reports directly to the President and serves as a member of the President's Cabinet.
The Vice President of Institutional Advancement is a full-time administrative faculty position reporting directly to the President, providing primary leadership in the planning, supervision, and execution of the college's advancement program. The Vice President also serves as the Executive Director of the VHCC Educational Foundation as described by the Foundation's by-laws, policies, and procedures.
Additionally, the Vice President supervises all college public relations activities, marketing, and corporate communications; and serves as the legislative liaison for the President, coordinating college activities associated with institutional and VCCS legislative priorities. The Vice President supervises budgets, planning, and projects of all assigned divisions and departments. As an agent of the institution, the Vice President represents the college in public functions and with external stakeholders.
This is a 12-month contract, salaried position with comprehensive benefits commensurate with its classification as administrative faculty. Annual reappointment is based on performance evaluations and institutional needs, and rank and salary are dependent on academic preparation, qualifications, and experience. The selected applicant will be required to complete the Commonwealth's Statement of Economic Interest.
