Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Structural Engineer to join our Corporate Engineering team in Roanoke, VA. In this role, you will provide technical expertise and engineering support across all company facilities, ensuring structural integrity, regulatory compliance, and successful execution of capital projects. This position offers the opportunity to work on diverse projects, from facility inspections to new construction and major upgrades.

Key Responsibilities

Asset Maintenance & Facility Support

  • Conduct periodic inspections and audits of facilities to assess structural conditions
  • Recommend repairs, upgrades, and additional inspections to maintain safety and performance
  • Monitor and track regulatory changes and building codes across operational locations

Project Engineering & Execution

  • Provide structural engineering support during design and construction phases of projects
  • Collaborate with Project Managers on budgeting, timelines, and planning for major projects
  • Assist in developing scopes of work for foundation, concrete, steel, and structural systems
  • Participate in the evaluation and selection of design and construction firms

Site Development & Compliance

  • Supervise site investigations and soil surveys to support foundation design
  • Support permitting and site development activities
  • Ensure all new construction and installations meet applicable building codes and regulations
  • Coordinate with Project Managers to secure building and occupancy permits

Construction Oversight

  • Provide on-site supervision during critical phases of structural work
  • Ensure quality, safety, and compliance throughout project execution

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering
  • 3–5 years of experience in structural engineering roles
  • Strong understanding of structural systems, inspections, and construction practices

Preferred

  • Experience in heavy industrial or large-scale facility environments
  • Knowledge of project management principles
  • Proficiency in CAD and structural design software
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in any state
