Warehouse Associate

Seasonal warehouse position

Job duties include quickly and accurately receiving, processing, and storing incoming product shipments. Ensure shipments are inspected and damages or shortages are noted on trucking company delivery documents. Initiate freight claim procedure when necessary. Check incoming delivery contents against the packing list to verify accurate and full delivery. Prepare the receiving reports and note any shortages, damages, or overages. Promptly report any discrepancies to supervisors. Verify vendor part number and Johnstone stock number for all incoming products. Determine proper bin number and/or location of incoming products. Store incoming products in proper location according to bin number or product sequence. Select products from inventory to fill customer orders. Prepare, pack, and scan (as appropriate), and stage products for inter-store transfer and customer pick-up and delivery in accordance with established standards (e.g. hazardous materials). Ensure that packaging is sufficient to avoid damage. Process documentation necessary to ship inter-store transfers and customer orders, including bills of lading, packing lists, small parcel manifests and other necessary documents. Load delivery vehicles and assist customers with will call pickups. Process customer returns. Ensure returns are in sellable condition per company policy. Verify that warranty paperwork has been properly and neatly filled out. Initiate warranty return process, and stage product in warranty area. Perform periodic cycle counting on assigned items in order to keep accurate records of inventory. Verify actual counts of stock against computerized records. Investigate and report discrepancies. Ensure safety by maintaining cleanliness of warehouse. Ensure that aisles are free of potential hazards. Report unsafe conditions to management. Operate hand trucks, pallet jacks, forklifts, order pickers, and other equipment safely and in accordance with organizational procedures. Monitor equipment and promptly report any safety or maintenance concerns to supervisors. Always wear protective equipment according to company policies and procedures. Access Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) as needed and when appropriate. Maintain required hazardous materials, forklift, and other internal and external certifications.

Education and experience requirements include a high school diploma or GED required or equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid driver's license and clean driving record are also required.

Job-specific knowledge, skills, and abilities include basic computer skills, including knowledge and skill in the use of inventory management systems and office software (e.g. email programs, internet browsers). Basic math skills sufficient to manage inventory, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Ability to use computer systems and manual procedures for organizing and identifying products and communicating with coworkers. Adequate physical strength and stamina to repeatedly lift, carry, move, and set down up to 75 pounds. Skill in the operation of heavy equipment, including delivery vehicles, forklifts, pallet jacks, and order pickers. Strict attention to detail.
