About Virginia Transformer

Virginia Transformer Corporation (VTC) is the largest U.S.-based power transformer manufacturer, with operations across Virginia, Idaho, Georgia, Mexico, and India. We provide custom-engineered power transformers to utility, industrial, renewable, and critical infrastructure markets. Our Rincon facility is a key site for the production of medium and large power transformers serving the southeastern U.S. region.

Position Summary

The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading daily operations on the manufacturing floor, ensuring safety, quality, and productivity goals are consistently met. This individual manages a team of skilled operators, technicians, and assemblers, coordinating across engineering, materials, and quality departments to deliver on-time, high-quality power transformers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate day-to-day manufacturing activities within assigned production area (e.g., assembly, winding, or tank fabrication).
  • Drive safety culture by enforcing policies, conducting safety audits, and leading toolbox talks.
  • Monitor production schedules, resource allocation, and output to meet customer delivery and cost objectives.
  • Lead, coach, and develop production staff — including performance feedback, skill development, and attendance management.
  • Partner with engineering and quality teams to resolve nonconformances and implement corrective actions.
  • Track and report KPIs including throughput, scrap, efficiency, and labor utilization.
  • Support Lean and continuous improvement initiatives aimed at waste reduction and process optimization.
  • Ensure proper use of tools, equipment, and materials to maintain production standards and minimize downtime.
  • Participate in daily Gemba walks and cross-functional meetings to address production challenges.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Management, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment (heavy electrical, transformer, or fabrication experience strongly preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage teams in a high-mix, low-volume production environment.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate diverse teams.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and 5S principles.
  • Understanding of mechanical and electrical manufacturing processes.
  • Proficient in ERP systems and production reporting tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
