Metric DCX is collaborating with a leading global engineering and consultancy firm to enhance the capabilities of their data center division.

This position is tailored for an Electrical Engineer specializing in data center facilitydesign, working directly with a major end-user client.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate third-party and colocation facilities for potential acquisition, ensuring alignment with the client's portfolio requirements.
  • Take ownership of power systems throughout all project phases, proactively identifying and resolving challenges in partnership with client stakeholders.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of data center designs, focusing on redundancy architecture, availability targets, and potential single points of failure.
  • Collaborate closely with operations, planning, and energy strategy teams to advance electrical solutions for third-party data center projects.
  • Perform technical due diligence and ensure adherence to quality standards that meet client expectations.
  • Maintain up-to-date internal documentation, specifications, and standards informed by ongoing project insights and lessons learned.
  • Coordinate with internal teams on power loading, rack deployment, and load balancing within shared facilities.
  • Facilitate cross-discipline coordination with mechanical and controls engineers, ensuring consistency and collaboration across regional teams.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; a postgraduate qualification or Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in mission-critical environments, with hands-on expertise in colocation and multi-tenant data center projects.
  • Strong proficiency in power systems analysis and related software tools.
  • Practical experience across the complete electrical distribution hierarchy, from high-voltage transformers to branch circuits, encompassing design, procurement, commissioning, and operations.
  • Adept at collaborating across diverse disciplines and engaging with structural, mechanical, civil, and IT/Telecom teams as needed.
  • Solid understanding of US electrical codes and standards, with familiarity with IEC standards being advantageous.
