Welder I - Manufacturing

Pay: $22-$27 per hour

Schedule: Full-time
Location: Roaonoke, VA 24019

Position Summary

We are seeking a Welder I to join our fabrication team. This position is responsible for fitting and welding non-pressurized, structural weldmentswhile maintaining high quality and safety standards. The ideal candidate has experience interpreting blueprints, using welding symbols, and performing fabrication work in a manufacturing environment. This role offers a clear growth path toward Welder II with required DOT weld qualification.

Key Responsibilities

  • Weld stainless steel and mild steel fabricated weldments
  • Perform MIG welding, Flux Core Arc welding, plasma cutting, and torch cutting
  • Prepare weld seams prior to welding
  • Interpret engineering drawings and welding symbols to layout fabricated assemblies
  • Inspect completed welds for quality and conformance
  • Operate various air and hand tools safely and effectively
  • Accurately complete work orders to track labor and costs
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 0-2 years of welding experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings
  • Familiarity with common welding processes and tools
  • Vocational or trade school training preferred
  • Strong attention to detail, reliability, and safety awareness
Physical & Safety Requirements
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 lbs repeatedly
  • Ability to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, and climb
  • Must be respirator certified and able to wear a PAPR system
  • Comfortable performing welding in confined spaces
  • Must adhere to all PPE requirements including:
    • Safety glasses, steel-toe boots, gloves
    • Hearing protection, welding jacket/sleeves
    • Grinding shield, welding shield, fall protection, PAPR system
