Job Overview
The IT Trainer is responsible for enhancing the technical skills of students, faculty and staff at Georgetown University by designing, developing, and delivering training programs. This role is crucial for keeping our community proficient in the latest software, hardware, and IT procedures, improving productivity, security and user experience. They will report directly to the Director of IT Communications and Training, UIS - Georgetown University.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Develop and implement IT training materials
- Conduct training sessions for diverse audiences across the community
- Create user-friendly IT-related communications and content.
- Support the execution of IT training strategy, and design programs to enhance user proficiency.
- Manage and maintain a comprehensive IT training curriculum, including e-learning modules and workshops.
- Assess training needs of our community and develop tailored programs to address skill gaps.
- Provide technical support and guidance to our community post-training workshops
Work Interactions This role reports directly to the Director of IT Communications and Training and works closely with the UIS Community Engagement Team. The IT Trainer is a key liaison between IT and other departments and serves as the primary link between new technology and its end-users, ensuring a smooth and successful adoption.
Requirements and Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Information Technology, Organizational Development, Human Resources, or a related field. Master's degree or relevant professional certifications (e.g., Change Management, CPTD, ITIL) are highly preferred.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in communications, training, or a blend of both, with a significant portion focused on Information Technology within a corporate environment.
- Demonstrated success in developing and implementing strategic communication plans for complex IT initiatives.
- Proven experience designing, delivering, and evaluating large-scale IT training programs.
- Experience with change management principles (e.g., Prosci ADKAR) related to technology adoption.
- Familiarity with common enterprise IT systems (e.g., ERP, CRM, cloud platforms, cybersecurity concepts).
- Exceptional Communication Skills: Superior written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and engaging language for diverse, non-technical audiences.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to see the big picture, anticipate future needs, and align communication and training efforts with long-term IT and business objectives.
- Leadership & Influence: Strong leadership presence, capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels of the organization and driving adoption through effective communication and training.
- Adult Learning Principles: Deep understanding of adult learning methodologies, instructional design, and various training delivery methods (e.g., e-learning, blended learning, workshops).
- Project Management: Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Technology Savvy: Proficient with communication tools (intranets, email platforms, video conferencing, collaboration suites) and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
- Analytical Acumen: Ability to define metrics, analyze data on communication reach and training effectiveness, and make data-driven decisions for continuous improvement.
- Problem-Solving: Strong ability to diagnose communication and adoption challenges and develop practical, creative solutions.
- Adaptability: Resilient and adaptable in a fast-paced, ever-evolving technology landscape.

Pay Range: The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$66,783.00 - $126,720.23
Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
