Job Title: Extruder Operator - 1.25"

Pay: $17.00/hour

Schedule: 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM, Monday-Thursday
(Some schedule flexibility required; overtime available)

Position Summary

We are seeking a dependable Extruder Operator to set up, operate, and monitor extrusion equipment used in the manufacturing of fiber optic cable. This role is hands-on and production-focused, requiring attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and a strong commitment to quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and continuously monitor extrusion equipment according to production specifications
• Read and interpret setup sheets, product specifications, and material requirements
• Inspect and measure products throughout the production process to ensure quality standards are met
• Apply print to cables using jet printers as required
• Accurately complete all production documentation
• Clean equipment to prevent contamination and maintain production standards
• Identify defects or production issues and take corrective action or notify supervision as needed
• Complete non-conformance documentation when required
• Follow all safety procedures and quality guidelines
• Work collaboratively within a production team to meet manufacturing goals

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Previous manufacturing or machine-operation experience preferred
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to operate production machinery
• Ability to use hand tools and measuring devices
• Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
• Ability to read and follow basic instructions
• Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision
• Strong teamwork and communication skills

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

• Regular standing and walking throughout shift
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds
• Must have sufficient vision (including color vision) and hearing for production environment
• Exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, and airborne particles (proper safety equipment provided)
• Moderate noise level
