The Senior Marketing Manager will support paid media strategy for a Fortune 500 off-price apparel and home retailer. This role acts as the voice of media strategy across integrated planning, working closely with internal brand marketing teams and external media agencies. The contractor will initially function in a Media Manager capacity and transition into a Manager-level role to support a leave of absence, requiring the ability to operate effectively across both levels.
Strong communication skills, cross-functional collaboration, and hands-on experience managing paid media strategy are critical to success in this role.Key Responsibilities
Getting to Know the Business

  • Act as the voice of media strategy in integrated planning with internal and external partners.
  • Partner with brand marketing and IAT teams to develop media strategies aligned to brand platforms.
  • Serve as the primary day-to-day liaison with paid media agencies.
  • Collaborate with domestic and global partners to share plans and insights.
Build Media & Digital Expertise
  • Manage investment and channel strategy across video, audio, social media, mobile, online video, search, and display.
  • Lead development of holistic media strategies including channel plans, audience strategy, and measurement frameworks.
  • Stay current on evolving media trends and technologies and recommend new solutions.
  • Evaluate current and prospective media vendors and partnerships.
Drive Results (Plan, Execute, Measure)
  • Oversee holistic paid media budgets executed by the broader team.
  • Share integrated media plans with key stakeholders.
  • Manage upfront investments, paid partnerships, and vendor relationships.
  • Oversee digital strategies that drive in-store and online sales.
  • Lead media support for grand openings, local, and multicultural initiatives.
  • Partner with insights and agency teams on cross-channel measurement and testing.
  • Represent paid media strategy during annual and ad hoc planning cycles.
Feedback & Optimization
  • Monitor campaign performance and drive ongoing optimizations.
  • Lead quarterly performance reviews and establish best practices.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent marketing experience.
  • 7-10 years of experience in media or paid media strategy.
  • Strong experience across digital channels including paid social, digital video, email, search, and display.
  • Demonstrated ability to optimize media performance and apply testing and analytics.
  • 5+ years of experience managing teams (note: contractor will not manage direct reports during this assignment).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working with external agencies and media vendors.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to influence across matrixed organizations.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
