1. Purpose of the Role
Technical SME (hands-on) who bridges the gap between a solution architect and a developer. This person will guide low-level design, build and deployment strategies, and DevSecOps practices for two initiatives:
- Project Sushi → IoT / medical device integration toedge
- One Source QA → AI-driven automation for Quality processes
2. Core Focus Areas
Focus Area Description
AWS & IoT Expertise Deep hands-on experience with AWS cloud-native services (S3, EC2, Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, VPC) and IoT Greengrass for edge deployments.
Edge & Device Deployment Proven background deploying and managing IoT/medical devices at the edge, including device communication, monitoring, and updates.
DevSecOps Practices Strong grounding in CI/CD and infrastructure automation (GitHub Actions, Harness, Terraform, etc.). Should drive SRE principles (automated monitoring, clear SLAs/SLOs).
Execution Ownership Capable of creating low-level design artifacts, guiding vendor teams, ensuring build quality, and driving implementation alignment.
Collaboration & Onsite Presence Regular participation in whiteboarding/design sessions with US-based stakeholders in Bannockburn, IL (onsite 2+ days/week). Not a traveling consultant role.
3. Secondary / Nice-to-Have Areas
Focus Area Description
Generative AI / AI Exposure Familiarity with GenAI tools or general AI automation is a plus (mainly for the One Source QA project), but not a core requirement.
Databricks Exposure to Databricks platform beneficial but not mandatory. Expected mainly in the One Source QA context.
Regulatory Experience While life sciences or GxP exposure is appreciated, it is not mandatory - functional teams will handle compliance.
4. Role Definition
Aspect Description
Positioning Technical SME (AWS IoT & DevSecOps)
Level Senior - capable of mentoring and leading vendor developers
Timeline Immediate onboarding through March (likely extension afterwards).
Reporting & Interaction Direct collaboration with US-based product and engineering teams; acts as the bridge between internal stakeholders and vendors.
5. Key Non-Negotiables
• Strong AWS expertise (especially IoT and cloud-native stack)
• Hands-on IoT / edge deployment experience
• Proven DevSecOps execution (CI/CD, monitoring, SLAs/SLOs)
• Ability to operate between architecture and development levels
• Availability for onsite collaboration in Bannockburn, IL
