About Ionworks
Ionworks is building next-generation battery simulation and optimization tools, powered by PyBaMM and modern cloud infrastructure. Our mission is to accelerate the development of better batteries, enabling faster electrification, safer devices, and more sustainable energy systems.
The Role
Ionworks is hiring a Founding Revenue & Growth Associate to support and extend our go-to-market efforts. This is a hybrid Sales Development + Marketing role focused on top-of-funnel creation, lead qualification, and market-facing messaging.
Reporting to the Head of Sales & Business Development, you will work closely with sales leadership to identify target accounts, generate demand, and ensure Ionworks' messaging resonates with highly technical buyers. You will also play a hands-on role in shaping Ionworks' external presence across outbound campaigns, LinkedIn, and website content.
This role includes approximately 15% travel to support customer meetings, conferences, and strategic industry events.
What You'll Do
Sales Development & Growth (≈60%)
- Research and identify target accounts, personas, and buying centers
- Execute thoughtful outbound campaigns via email and LinkedIn
- Personalize outreach using technical and industry context (not generic templates)
- Qualify inbound and outbound leads and schedule discovery calls
- Maintain CRM accuracy and support pipeline tracking and reporting
- Provide structured feedback to sales leadership on ICP fit, objections, and market signals
Marketing & Messaging (≈40%)
- Support website messaging updates, landing pages, and use-case content
- Create LinkedIn content for Ionworks (and occasional leadership content)
- Develop lightweight content such as blog posts, one-pagers, and customer narratives
- Help translate complex technical capabilities into clear value propositions
- Continuously refine messaging based on prospect engagement and feedback from sales
Who You Are
You are a commercially minded communicator who enjoys learning technical products and engaging with sophisticated buyers. You are comfortable operating in an early-stage environment and collaborating closely with sales leadership.
You likely have 2–5 years of experience in one or more of the following:
- SDR / BDR role at a technical or B2B SaaS company
- Growth or marketing role supporting sales teams
- Technical consulting, applications engineering, or solutions engineering with customer exposure
- Deep-tech, engineering, modeling, or scientific software environment
You do not need to be a domain expert—but you must be curious, coachable, and capable of speaking credibly to engineers and R&D leaders.
What We're Looking For
Required
- Strong written communication skills (clear, precise, credible)
- Experience with outbound prospecting and lead qualification
- Comfort engaging technical buyers (engineers, scientists, R&D leaders)
- Ability to self-direct work without heavy process or playbooks
- Willingness to iterate quickly and learn from rejection and feedback
- Willingness and ability to travel approximately 15%
Nice to Have
- Exposure to battery technology, energy storage, automotive, aerospace, or manufacturing
- Familiarity with simulation, modeling, or engineering workflows
- Experience with early-stage startups or “first hire” environments
- Experience working with or selling into government agencies, national labs, or publicly funded R&D organizations
- Familiarity with using AI tools to accelerate workflows
