JOB SUMMARY:
Utilizing expert skills and knowledge, provides consultation to the health care team to ensure efficient and effective nutrition care of patients. Provides education and training to health care team members. Participates in ongoing process improvement activities within the Department of Food and Nutrition Services and the center. Takes personal responsibility for completing duties timely and efficiently; shows initiative and good judgment; suggests ways to continually improve in the areas of clinical nutrition and food service. Maintains a customer-service, patient-centered approach at all times when fulfilling job duties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Provide support to the Director of Food and Nutrition Services and organization leadership with new department initiatives and project goals. 2. Provide consultation to the center Dining Services Manager, Registered Dietitian and Administrator on federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to food service operations and nutrition care. 3. Reviews monthly dietary financial reports and helps Dining Service Managers at assigned centers identify strategies for staying within budgeted food costs. 4. Monitor food handling and safety procedures for compliance with CCR policies. 5. Collaborates with center staff to develop an action plan to address identified opportunities for improvement in food and nutrition services. 6. Maintain good communication with all disciplines to ensure a team approach in developing plans for process improvement. 7. Available during State and Federal surveys to provide consultation and guidance unless otherwise directed by the Director of Food and Nutrition Services. 8. Review and assist in developing a plan of correction for any dietary or nutrition care deficiencies noted during state, federal or local health department surveys. 9. Complete a quarterly sanitation audit of the Dietary Services Department and report results to the center Dining Services Manager and Administrator. 10. Communicate regularly and follow up on plans with the Administrator regarding nutrition or dietary concerns. 11. Provide in-service training to facility staff on new nutrition initiatives, nutrition care of residents, meal service procedures or other topics. 12. Maintain resident/patient confidentiality and privacy; treat residents/patients with kindness, dignity and respect; know and comply with the Resident's Rights rules and comply with HIPAA regulations. 13. Other duties, as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must be currently registered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the American Dietetic Association and three (3) years' experience in the long term/SNF care. 2. Must have excellent leadership, customer service and nutrition clinical skills. 3. Strong interpersonal and communication skills including public speaking. 4. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. 5. Must always possess appropriate professional demeanor. 6. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. 7. Must be proficient in computer skills including Word, Excel, Power Point and Electronic Medical Record and Menu Management platforms. 8. Must be able to work independently and possess exceptional team building and people skills. 9. Able to prioritize and manage time effectively and work flexible hours
