Dispatcher Provides effective communications support to the Carilion Police Department and ancillary areas within the organization. Serves as a screening center for all calls for services and dispatches calls appropriately to the perspective departments and jurisdictions. Monitors numerous alarms including fire, panic, burglary and dispatches Carilion, City, or County agencies.

Education: High School graduate or equivalent required. A minimum of 10 years of dispatch experience may be substituted for High School degree or equivalent. Experience: Prior experience as a police or emergency services dispatcher preferred. Virginia Criminal Information Network (VCIN)/NCIC certification required or ability to obtain within one year of hire. Other Minimum Qualifications: Good interpersonal and customer services skills required. Must have good typing and data entry skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel applications.
