How You'll Help Transform Healthcare:Payroll Specialist I utilizes Carilion policy along with federal and state regulations to process time and attendance and to process deductions such as garnishments, child support, tax liens and wage assignments. Investigate errors and make necessary corrections. Process manual checks and vouchers to fund deductions from employees checks. Assures that employees receive checks on time and at proper locations.

Payroll Specialist I

• Prepares checks and direct deposits for Automated Mailing to do inserts and stuff checks and direct deposits for distribution.
• Records count of checks and direct deposits on log. Completes Breakdown sheets for each company and balances gross to net. Prepares journal entries for taxes and vouchers for Accounts Payable to fund Payroll withholding accounts.
• Process time worked by employees in UKG, may enters time into employee record system.
• Enters into payroll systems changes for deductions such as parking, SCA and Debt Recovery.
• Process garnishments, tax liens and child support orders following Federal, State and Local regulations.
• Calculates retros and adds on Sign On Bonuses, Commission and Referral Bonuses
• Maintains current distribution list for checks, direct deposits and UKG notifications.
• Prepares and issues payroll check corrections. Makes adjustments to wages and taxes as needed. Gives to manager any checks sent to payroll for overpayments and Jury Duty to deposit to payroll accounts.
• Works with Directors, Managers and Team Leaders to create reports to help them with tracking worked and paid hours.
• Help employees with questions in regard to Direct Deposits, garnishments, tax liens and other questions about pay. Make copies of check stubs and W-2's as requested
• Help with W-2 process and making sure that all W-2's are to employees by deadlines.
• Help with new acquisitions by doing employee and manager training as requested.
• Backup Team Leader as needed with UKG Online training for managers and changers.
• Work closely with Accounting and Financial advisors to explain and report monthly expenses.

What We Require:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Other Minimum Qualifications: Able to sit for long periods. Must be deadline oriented.
