Objectives of this Role

  • Deliver exceptional commissioning, troubleshooting, analysis, site acceptance, and customer support services for ESS Technologies products.
  • Implement equipment commissioning at customer locations as needed.
  • Offer remote troubleshooting and analytical support to address complex customer inquiries.
  • Enhance understanding of products, customer needs, business strategies, and identify areas for process improvement.
  • Design, develop, and implement control systems and subsystems across multiple projects while adhering to established standards.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Utilize standard control designs and ancillary subsystems to design and manufacture solutions that fulfill project requirements and ensure safe and efficient operation of equipment.
  • Perform equipment commissioning, including final quality checks, before shipping.
  • Provide on-site equipment commissioning at customer facilities as required.
  • Travel to customer locations up to 80% of the time for machine operation support, training, and ensuring overall satisfaction.
  • Maintain knowledge of technologies and best practices while meeting ESS Technologies' quality standards.
  • Guide electrical, assembly, and service teams as needed during design execution.
  • Develop and improve processes for manufacturing production, ensuring high-quality outputs.
  • Ensure adherence to project Quality Plan requirements and schedules for control systems.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and drive project collaboration.
  • Create or modify existing simulations related to ESS Technologies equipment.
  • Continuously enhance professional skills through training, education, and networking.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Associate's degree in applied technology, or equivalent experience.
  • Over 5 years in a field service capacity or at least 1 year in a design-build manufacturing setting as a controls engineer.
  • Valid enhanced driver's license and/or passport required for travel.
  • Experience with PLC programming to manage industrial machinery and processes.
  • Strongly preferred: experience with Allen-Bradley Studio/RSLogix5000 and FactoryTalk View Studio.
  • Fanuc experience is a plus.
  • Project management experience is highly desirable.
  • Advanced training in engineering, leadership, and project management is a plus.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated accountability in meeting deadlines.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft technologies and design management software.

Physical/Mental Standards

  • Ability to operate a computer effectively.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient for continuous use of a keyboard, mouse, and telephone.
  • Sufficient speech and hearing for regular communication; vision adequate for computer monitor use.
  • Capacity to sit for extended periods.
  • Ability to perform climbing, stooping, crouching, walking, grasping, and repetitive motion tasks.
  • Can exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds frequently, or otherwise move objects of similar weight.
  • Close mental and visual focus required for engineering and manufacturing-related tasks.
  • Ability to plan, schedule, train, evaluate work effectively, and troubleshoot (electrical/program/machine).

Work Environment

  • While performing job responsibilities, the work environment may expose employees to moving mechanical parts and varying noise levels ranging from quiet to moderate.
  • The number of employees passing through the work area is typical and manageable.
