The Exercise Physiologist - Wellness screens, assesses, conducts tests of physiological measures and applying clinical reasoning to ensure the safety and appropriateness of exercise and physical activity interventions. Physical activity interventions will encompass a diverse range of people who could be potentially high risk, have an acute/chronic disease, require injury prevention, pre- and post-surgery management, cardiac rehabilitation, or athletic performance. Required to work under the supervision of the Clinical Training Manager.
The Exercise Physiologist - Wellness:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Sports Medicine or related field is required.
Experience: 2 years recent and relevant experience required. Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Personal training certification or certified exercise physiologist or certified clinical exercise physiologist or certified strength and conditioning specialist from a nationally recognized organization such as ACE, AFAA, ACSM, NSCA, or Cooper Institute is required. Carilion approved specialty training certifications: orthopedic, movement disorder, Parkinsons disease, multiple sclerosis and cancer are required 90-days of hire.
Life Support: AHA BLS-HCP
Other Minimum Qualifications: Desire to work within a comprehensive health care team. Excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills. The ability to work independently is required. Commitment to a healthy lifestyle as a model for participants and staff.
