Grant And Alternative Funding Manager

This position is responsible for overseeing the City of Roanoke's grant and alternative funding program and operations, including but not limited to identifying and pursuing funding and resources for new services and/or programs, as well as existing and proposed programs and/or services. The position manages grant activities, develops budgets, collaborates on grant applications with internal and external stakeholders, and ensures that existing grants comply with applicable processes, requirements, and reporting guidelines. This position also works directly with the City Manager and Management and Budget to determine the distribution of general funds to community partners for operations, capital projects, and sponsorships. Examples of duties include managing pre-awarded grant functions, monitoring post-awarded grant functions, maintaining records and files, researching new grant funding opportunities, representing the city at meetings, conducting training, and preparing reports and correspondences.

Typical qualifications include a bachelor's degree with specific training in grant writing and grants management, five to seven years of experience, knowledge of municipal operations, and experience negotiating project agreements and contracts.
