Roanoke Valley Christian Schools (RVCS), founded in 1973, is a private, coeducational Christian school in Roanoke County serving students from K2 (pre-kindergarten) through 12th grade. Founded as a ministry of Shenandoah Baptist Church, the school is committed to cultivating Christian character, self-discipline, and academic excellence, while upholding the highest moral and educational standards for its students. With more than 1,400 graduates, RVCS is dedicated to developing students who imitate the heart and mind of Christ, submitting every area of life to Gods Word and engaging culture from a Biblical worldview (Philippians 2:5).
The school provides a rigorous, college-preparatory curriculum in which the majority of graduates continue on to higher education. Students consistently perform above average on standardized testing, scoring higher than 64% of comparable ACSI schools on the Iowa Test of Basic Skills. Both secular and Christian textbooks are used, with every academic objective grounded in Scripture.
RVCS offers both a standard diploma (24 credits) and an advanced diploma (28 credits), ensuring academic challenge and flexibility. All teachers (K512) are college graduates certified by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and committed to the mission of Christian education. The campus includes air-conditioned, carpeted classrooms many equipped with smartboard technology along with science and computer labs, libraries, and a gymnasium. RVCS is fully accredited by ACSI and Cognia (formerly SACS), with ACSI recognized by the Virginia Council for Private Education, underscoring the schools commitment to excellence in both academics and faith formation.
