Position Overview:

The Night Dispatcher supports overnight freight operations by managing inbound calls, monitoring driver ETAs, and responding to customer/driver needs to ensure seamless service and safety. This position plays a key role in maintaining communication and operational continuity during non-business hours.

Key Responsibilities:

• Answer all inbound calls and respond promptly to driver and customer emails.
• Monitor and update driver ETAs, scheduling, and service details.
• Coordinate roadside assistance and address service or scheduling issues as they arise.
• Complete accident or incident reports in accordance with safety policies.
• Use TMW software to assign drivers, provide load details, and manage driver fuel funds.
• Monitor Hours of Service (HOS) compliance and DOT regulations.
• Maintain nightly logs and provide a clear handoff summary to the day dispatch team.
• Exercise sound judgment and accountability in all overnight decisions.

Education & Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) highly encouraged.
• Experience with TMW or other dispatch/transportation management systems preferred.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations and HOS compliance preferred.
• Previous experience in freight dispatching, logistics, or transportation operations is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Ability to work the night shift (6:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m.), three nights per week, with occasional additional coverage.
• Strong communication, listening, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and data entry accuracy.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and make sound decisions under pressure.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently.

Reporting Structure:

Reports to the Freight Supervisor and collaborates with drivers, dispatchers, safety personnel, internal departments, and external customers.
