Overview
LifeWise Secondary Education teachers will demonstrate in-depth Bible knowledge and outstanding teaching abilities for students in grades 6-12. The ideal candidate is an active church member with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who is caring, committed and proficient in teaching.
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum of two years of classroom teaching experience in either a school or church setting
A mature personal Christian faith in agreement with the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith
Active membership in a church in which teaching aligns with the "What We Believe" section of the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith
Job Description
Complete Initial and Ongoing Training
Complete the LifeWise Teacher Certification Course prior to teaching
Participate in the annual LifeWise Summit each year
Attend at least one Teachers' Lounge and one LifeWise Meet-Up per year
Stay up to date on training and updates by regularly checking LifeWise email
Teach LifeWise Classes
Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans using only LifeWise curriculum
Invest in building relationships with students and praying for them regularly
Create and maintain a safe, organized and stimulating classroom environment through various teaching techniques and discipline that is redemptive in nature
Prioritize student engagement
Maintain Records
Keep accurate student attendance records
Distribute accurate and timely assessments to meet secondary education requirements
Maintain accurate class rosters including health concerns, special needs of students and photo permission as noted on parent permission slips
Prepare adequate lesson plans, information and materials for a substitute teacher
Maintain the Classroom
Establish a culture that fosters academic pursuits and a love of learning as a means to promote spiritual growth
Maintain a clean, attractive, age appropriate and well-ordered classroom
Know procedures for dealing with emergency situations
Purchase classroom supplies as needed using funds provided by the program director
Communicate
Act as a LifeWise Academy ambassador within the community
Attend events as available or requested by the program director
Maintain ongoing dialogue with school personnel to stay apprised of class schedule changes and ensure student well-being
Build relationships with volunteers and keep them apprised of schedule changes
Submit regular updates, stories and photos to the program director
Promote and communicate LifeWise's religious mission in all duties and interactions, ensuring alignment with the organization's core values and beliefs
