Job Title: Equipment ECQ Engineer

Location: Virginia Transformer – Roanoke VA

Department: CAPEX

Reports To: CAPEX Director

Travel Required: Yes, to Virginia Transformer manufacturing facilities as required


Job Summary:

Virginia Transformer is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Equipment ECQ (Erection, Commissioning, and Qualification) Engineer to support the installation, commissioning, and performance monitoring of plant equipment. This role plays a vital part in ensuring operational readiness and long-term efficiency of critical assets. The ECQ Engineer will collaborate with plant maintenance teams, vendors, and project stakeholders to ensure equipment meets design specifications and functions reliably. A background in mechanical engineering is preferred.


Key Responsibilities:

Erection & Commissioning Support

  • Coordinate the erection and commissioning of new equipment across manufacturing sites.
  • Ensure all pre-installation prerequisites are completed before work begins.
  • Verify equipment specifications are met on-site and deviations are addressed.
  • Obtain final sign-off from plant leadership upon project completion.
  • Coordinate invoice approvals with the CAPEX manager and finance team for payment processing.
  • Coordinate the FAT of equipment at vendor place with procurement and technical groups.

Plant Equipment Monitoring

  • Conduct weekly reviews of plant equipment health and performance with maintenance teams.
  • Document equipment status and escalate critical issues as needed.
  • Monitor preventative maintenance (PM) schedules, execution, and follow-ups.
  • Track and maintain standard spare parts and support critical spare parts/SPOF coordination.

Performance & Compliance Oversight

  • Prepare weekly health reports for critical equipment.
  • Ensure asset control by verifying that appropriate manpower and tools are in place.
  • Confirm that all installed assets comply with design specifications and CAPEX requirements.
  • Support remote and virtual inspections as needed.

Breakdown Response & Escalation

  • Provide timely escalation and coordination in response to equipment breakdowns or urgent interventions.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline preferred.
  • 2–5 years of experience in equipment commissioning, plant engineering, or industrial maintenance.
  • Strong understanding of equipment performance monitoring and preventative maintenance programs.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and equipment manuals.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Willingness and ability to travel to various plant locations as required.
