Who will you be working with?

You will interact with team members within Wabtec across all levels of the organization. You will oversee a talented group of team members responsible for production at our facility in Salem, VA.

How will you make a difference?

You will coordinate the daily operation of the production department with responsibility for the safe and on-time delivery of quality products that will consistently meet or exceed our customers' expectations.

What do we want to know about you?

  • Have a bachelor's degree in business, manufacturing, engineering, or a related field (preferred) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Have 7+ years of experience in a manufacturing/production environment with progressive management, preferably in a process-oriented industry.
  • Have 3+ years leading a production team (preferred).
  • Experience leading change and system improvements using Lean Transformation principles.
  • Knowledge of modern manufacturing concepts and practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to travel as needed (minimal travel required).
  • Understanding of budgeting and expense management.
  • Ability to identify gaps, make quick decisions, and develop cost-effective solutions.
  • Strong analytical, statistical, and reasoning skills for problem-solving and strategic planning.
  • Interpersonal and supervisory skills, including coaching, feedback, performance evaluation, and motivation.
  • Self-motivated, capable of working independently and delivering results.

  • Supervise staff, including hiring, training, performance evaluations, and discipline.
  • Ensure a safe working environment and promote safety culture.
  • Meet production goals while minimizing waste and reducing costs.
  • Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, and output.
  • Uphold standards and KPIs through accountability.
  • Collaborate across departments to optimize production strategies.

Additional duties outside of your core responsibilities may be assigned with proper training.

The salary range for this role is $89,100 - $126,900 annually. Actual salary may vary based on experience, skills, and other factors. Benefits include health, welfare, and retirement options, details of which are available at mywabtecbenefits.com.
