Position: Controls Engineer Specialist
Duties: Responsible for focusing on maintaining optimal conditions during the production
process. This includes ensuring a safe working environment, delivering high-quality products/processes, and achieving high-performance levels, requiring a multidisciplinary approach and effective communication to identify process improvement opportunities, use problem-solving methodologies, and propose solutions for improvements and technological innovations. Apply Controls Engineering knowledge and experience to manufacturing processes while maintaining the safest environment possible, quality standards, and productivity to achieve optimal plant performance. Comply with Environmental, Health, Safety, and Quality Systems guidelines currently applicable to the area and the entire plant. Follow the guidelines in the employee Handbook, including paid time off, training, FMLA and labor affairs. Keep constant feedback with he Kaizen Automation Coordinator and Automation Coordinator. Seek continuous process improvement, productivity and profitability, through the application of engineering principles, including process redesign, new technologies, etc. Contribute to define and follow the Standards for Control Engineering. Respond to the production process abnormalities while focusing on continuous process improvements. Execute CapEx projects within the stated scope, timing, budget, and resources as assigned. Create work instructions that benefit the Production and Controls Engineering Teams. Research new technologies and develop new applications that improve overall plant performance. Collaborate, lead, and/or support the design and implementation of new products, engineering changes and processes.
Location: Roanoke, VA
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Industrial Engineering, Electrical
Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or related discipline.
Experience: 3 years of experience in the job offered, or in a maintenance industrial manufacturing
engineering position within the automotive frame industry. Experience must include analyzing tooling design specifications and providing critical analysis, guidance and direction regarding changes in tooling assembly lines, production processes and equipment improvements at facilities to assure quality goals and standards are met. Must have hands-on experience designing, developing and implementing maintenance programs for key assembly components, stamping tools and manufacturing lines to assure the quality of products meets customers' exact specifications. Experience can be gained concurrently. Employer will accept any suitable combination of education, training or experience.
