Job Overview

Roanoke Marvin is looking for a Quality Tech to join our 3rd Shift Team. This position is responsible for assisting the Quality department to meet and exceed company goals. The Quality Technician is responsible for ensuring that all quality standards are being followed by employees on the production lines and troubleshoot any areas of the assembly process where a quality issue occurs. Quality technicians are responsible for conducting testing procedures during manufacturing processes to ensure that products comply with quality standards.

Highlights of your role

    Ensure that all quality standards are met.
  • Inspect, test, or measure materials, products, installations, and work for conformance to specifications
  • Troubleshoot any areas of the assembly process where a quality issue occurs.
  • Discard or reject products, materials, and equipment not meeting specifications
  • Analyze and interpret blueprints, data, manuals, and other materials to determine specifications, inspection and testing procedures, adjustment and certification methods, formulas, and measuring instruments required.
  • Gage calibrations, incoming inspections, line audits
  • Assist in Quality Training
  • Record and analysis data, maintain proper paperwork/documentation of departmental data.
  • Notify supervisors and other personnel of production problems, and assist in identifying and correcting these problems
  • Discuss inspection results with those responsible for products, and recommend necessary corrective action.
  • Observe and monitor production operations and equipment to ensure conformance to specifications and make or order necessary process or assembly adjustments
  • Perform other related duties that contribute to the success of the operation as assigned by supervisor.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Teams, and Excel.
You're a good fit if you have (or if you can)
  • High School Diploma/GED required - Associate or two year degree from a college or technical school is preferred.
  • 1-2 years of Quality related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Metrology Quality System Practices
  • Ability to compile and read run charts
  • Must be proficient in the use of measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, tape measures, pin gages, feeler gages, lineal measurement devices and Optical comparator
  • Ability to analyze and interpret drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent shop math skills (Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals)
  • Critical thinking, problem solving, interpersonal, written communication, teamwork, quality, and adaptability skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each major job function and duty satisfactorily. This position is responsible for leading, directing, and motivating the production lines to develop products of the highest quality. This individual is required to possess strong communication skills, intermediate mathematical skills, team working skills, and the ability to self-motivate and supervise others. This position will monitor the quality of the products produced on the production line and provide feedback to supervisors on product quality issues.
