Description:

St. John's College High School is seeking a full-time Associate Director of College Counseling. The Associate Director of College Counseling oversees a caseload of approximately eighty students. S/he/they is responsible for guiding students and their families through all aspects of the college search and application process. Counselors are expected to communicate with faculty and parents about academic and counseling issues while being an advocate for students with college admissions offices. Under the direction of the St. John's administration and the Director of College Counseling, the Associate Director of College Counseling will also facilitate various events through their office for parents and students throughout the school year, proctor AP exams, midterm and final exams, as well as standardized tests.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


The vision for the office includes making the college search and application process transparent and accessible to parents and students, ensuring that prompt and effective communication occurs between families, developing productive relationships with admissions counselors from colleges and universities, and facilitating events through the college counseling office. Responsibilities also include educating students and their families about various types of colleges, current admissions trends, application procedures, financial aid, and testing. In addition, college counselors are responsible for writing a comprehensive recommendation letter for each of his/her/their students.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES):

The ideal candidate will possess experience in secondary or college admissions counseling, excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational ability and time management skills, a high level of enthusiasm and love for working with many diverse types of students and parents, willingness to work in a fast-paced environment, and the ability to meet deadlines.
