Job Title: HR Generalist
Location: Virginia Transformer – Corporate Office (Roanoke, VA)

Position Summary
The HR Generalist serves as a key member of the corporate Human Resources team, supporting a wide range of HR functions including employee relations, compliance, onboarding, benefits administration, training coordination, and HR policy implementation, and other projects as assigned. This role plays a critical part in ensuring a consistent and positive employee experience across multiple locations, while also supporting strategic HR initiatives that drive organizational success.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations & HR Support
- Serve as a point of contact for employee questions related to HR policies, procedures, and benefits.
- Support managers and employees in resolving workplace concerns and promoting a positive culture.
- Assist with investigations and documentation related to employee relations issues.
- Maintain confidentiality and ensure fair and consistent application of HR policies and practices.
Onboarding & Offboarding
- Coordinate pre-employment and onboarding processes for new hires, including background checks, paperwork, orientation scheduling, and system setup. Support offboarding activities, including exit interviews and termination documentation, and analysis of data.
Compliance & Records Management
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, including personnel files and HRIS data.
- Support audits and reporting requirements (e.g., EEO, I-9, ACA).
Benefits Administration
- Assist employees with benefits-related questions and issues.
- Coordinate benefit enrollment, changes, and terminations in collaboration with vendors and payroll.
- Support open enrollment communications, logistics, etc.
Training & Development
- Coordinate scheduling and logistics for training programs and compliance courses.
- Track employee participation and maintain training records.
- Support implementation of new HR initiatives and programs.
HR Projects & Collaboration
- Participate in corporate HR projects such as engagement surveys, process improvements, policy rollouts, and other key efforts/initiatives.
- Collaborate with other HR team members across locations to ensure alignment and consistency.
- Assist with data collection and reporting for HR metrics and dashboards.
Qualifications & Experience
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience:
- 2–4 years of HR experience, preferably in a corporate or multi-location setting.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel, Powerpoint,Outlook).
- Experience with HRIS systems (e.g., ADP, Paycom, UKG/Kronos).
- Familiarity with employment laws and HR best practices.
Soft Skills:
- Strong interpersonal, organization and communication skills.
- High level of discretion and professionalism.
- Ability to multitask and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented and organized with a proactive mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
- PHR or SHRM-CP certification (or in progress) is a plus.
- Experience supporting HR functions in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
