Environmental Health Safety Specialist

Description:

Identify and inform management of compliance issues, risks, and improvement opportunities through the conduct of weekly and monthly audits. Facilitate investigation processes and maintain required paperwork to comply with client and regulatory standards.

Enter information into internal databases in a timely manner.

Perform observation audits, train, and assist others such as Area Managers and team members to complete their responsibilities.

Perform specific training as required by the Manager.

May have additional responsibilities for fire prevention, hazardous waste management, or other related activities depending on the business unit and location.

Participate in process improvement activities and manage actions to completion.

Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in an Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) related field or a bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations, specifically 29 CFR 1910.
  • Experience using Microsoft Word and Excel professionally.
  • Experience maintaining confidentiality in matters involving security and/or personnel issues.
  • Availability to work flexible shifts including days, nights, and weekends.

Preferred Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher, preferably in a related field.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, analysis, judgment, and customer-focused skills.
  • Experience leading and managing a team.
  • Ability to analyze accident data, new processes, and machinery for potential concerns, and conduct job hazard and job analyses.
  • Current certifications related to safety and health.
  • Experience in workers case management.
  • Passion for safety.
  • Experience in healthcare or industrial settings.
  • Experience with OSHA regulations and Workers Compensation.
